Upgrades

Enjoy your flight even more with a BenefitUpgrade

Would you like to use your flight to prepare quietly for your business meeting, or just to relax? If so, you can turn your BenefitPoints into an upgrade and enjoy the space and comfort of a higher booking class.

Whether First, Business or Premium Economy Class – book your desired upgrade conveniently by phone at our Service Center Team or send us your desired flight data using the upgrade request form which you find further down on this page:

How many points do you need for your upgrade?
    • In the following tables you can find an overview of all flight routes and upgrade options.
    • Or use our points calculator for particular routes.
Upgrades can be booked on the following routes:
    • On all flights within Europe.
    • On intercontinental flights operated by Lufthansa, Air Canada, Air China*, All Nippon Airways*, Austrian Airlines, Brussels Airlines, SWISS and United Airlines.
Special conditions:
    • Upgrades from Economy to Premium Economy are possible for Air Canada, Austrian Airlines, Brussels Airlines, Lufthansa and United Airlines.
    • Until further notice upgrade requests on SWISS flights could only be considered if the award class is available for the whole itinerary. Partial availability e.g. availability only on long haul flight but no availability on feeder flight would conduct to request denial.
    • In the case of domestic flights in Japan no upgrades can be booked.
    • Domestic upgrades are only possible on connecting flights in combination with an upgrade on intercontinental flights. The BenefitPoints for the intercontinental upgrade will not include the domestic upgrade which is paid as a separate segment.
    • An upgrade can only be booked with a confirmed reservation.
    • Upgrades for waiting list seats cannot be booked.
    • To find out which booking classes upgrades can be booked from, please consult the booking class overview.
    • Upgrades on codeshare flights are not possible.
    • Lufthansa Allegris First Class seats are excluded from PartnerPlusBenefit upgrades and cannot be booked.
Advance booking periods:
    • In the case of upgrades, an advance booking period of 3 working days (Mon. – Fri.) before departure applies.
    • Please note the opening times of the PartnerPlusBenefit Service Center.
Payment:
In case of upgrades each route segment is paid separately with BenefitPoints – for an upgrade on an outbound and return flight double BenefitPoints apply.
Rebookings and cancellations:
    • You can rebook Benefit Upgrades once free of charge up to one working day (Mon. – Fri.) before departure for Lufthansa, Austrian and SWISS, up to 3 working days for other airlines.
    • For every further rebooking 50 Euro or optionally 15 000 Benefit points will be charged.

    • Cancellation is possible for a fee of 50 Euro or 15 000 Benefit points up to one working day before departure (Mon. – Fri.).
    • Before the used Benefit points can be refunded, the ticket must be rebooked to the original booking class by the issuing travel agency.
    • In case of a later cancellation than one working day before departure, the spent Benefit points will be forfeited in full.

    • In the event of a rebooking or cancellation, the availability of the flight in the original booking class can no longer be guaranteed.

*Kindly note that customers from Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Russia, Belarus, Ukraine, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Greece, Cyprus and Israel are not eligible for Upgrade bookings with Air China.
